Book Review: The Science of God: The Convergence of Scientific and Biblical Wisdom

Author: Dr. Gerald L. Schroeder
Spiritual Bias: Bible Believer
Origins Bias: Creationist but believes in some intra-Phyla Evolution
Rating: Middle of the Road
Level: Advanced

Comments: Rarely do I ever come across a book with so many novel ideas related to origins. In fact, as my wife can attest, I had trouble putting it down once I started reading it. Dr. Schroeder uses his MIT physics background and his deep scriptural knowledge in an attempt to harmonize the book of Genesis with science. He touches upon almost every issue in the origins debate however he focuses mainly on the fine tuning of the universe, the origin of life issue, problems with the theory of evolution, and dinosaurs in the Bible. Particularly excellent was his analysis of convergent evolution and his use of cosmic background radiation (CBR) as a universal clock to explain the first 6 days of biblical creation. I'm not sure why but the weird thing about this book is that it is not nearly as popular as some others in this genre but in my opinion is much better. Overall: Very good book! Definitely worth the $13 or so dollars it cost me.
